Larry H. Grimm, 73 of Hickory, died Monday, December 4, 2017 at the Washington Hospital, following a six-year illness. He was born November 21, 1944 in Washington, the son of the late James H. Grimm Jr. and Anna Mary Hartsell Grimm. Larry was a 1962 graduate of Washington High School and was an electrician at Universal Cyclops and Consolidated Coal Company and retired from Future All. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington. Larry loved his family, hunting, fishing and serving his community. He was Mt. Pleasant Supervisor for 12 years, Hunter Safety instructor for 20 years, a Boy Scout leader for 20 years and a little league coach. On June 26, 1971, he married Doris Taylder, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Thomas Grimm of Mt. Washington and Matthew (Allisha) Grimm of Concord, VA; a brother, James H. (Shirley) Grimm III of Washington, two sisters, Becky (C. Richard) King of Washington and Debbie (Terry) Stephens of New Plymouth, OH; two grandchildren, Ethan Cary and Emerson Grimm; several nephews and a niece. Friends will be received Thursday, December 7, 2017 from noon to 6 p.m., the time of service at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington with Rev. Steve Smythers officiating. Burial is private.
