Kathy Jean Cox, 63, of Washington, died Friday, June 22, 2018, in Presbyterian Senior Care, following a lengthy illness. She was born October 12, 1954, in Washington, a daughter of the late Earl D. Phillips and Erla J. King Phillips. Ms. Cox was a graduate of Washington High School. She worked for several years at Salvitti Eye Surgery Center as an ophthalmic assistant. Ms. Cox was interested in Native American culture and enjoyed making bath salts, soaps and lotions. She was Presbyterian by faith. Surviving are two daughters, Amy Jo Kennedy Cornell of Washington and Kelly J. Toland of Claysville; two brothers, Dale (Tracy) Phillips of Waynesburg and Charles Phillips of Albright, West Virginia; a sister, Sharon (Greg) Rush of Waynesburg; four grandchildren, Kyle, Tashina, Tyree, and Britney; and one great-grandchild. Deceased is a grandson, Dalton Toland. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public service.
