Kathleen S. “Kay” Popeck, 93, of Washington, passed away on February 14, 2025, in Transitions Healthcare in Washington. She was born June 29, 1931, in Washington, a daughter of the late Anthony J. Popeck, Sr. and Sabina Bobik Popeck. Kathleen was a graduate of Washington High School. She worked as a Bell Telephone Operator as well as several years in the business office before retiring. Kathleen was a lifelong member of St.Hilary Church of St. James Parish. She loved bowling and playing bingo, and loved her nieces and nephews as though they were her own children. In later years, Kathleen frequently traveled with her Bingo friends from the South Strabane, American Legion, and Alpine Clubs. She enjoyed golfing in a league as well. Kathleen is survived by her brother Anthony J. Popeck, Jr. (Rebecca); nieces and nephews Christopher Popeck (Heather), Mark Popeck (Shelly), Steven Popeck (Laurie), Stefanie Weimer (Talbert), Stacey Schlarbaum (Scott), Joe Petty (Sherri), and John Petty; great-nephews and great-nieces Matthew, Danielle, Anthony, Brooke, Trevor, Elizabeth, Anna, Dillon, Haddon, and Jacob; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews Emma, Hazel, Mattison, and Bruner. Deceased, in addition to her parents, are siblings Barbara Jean Petty and Daniel C. Popeck; sister-in-law Mary Joan Popeck; and nieces Patricia Stark and Kathleen Petty, and nephew Tom Petty. Friends and family will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2025, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington where a Blessing Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
