Kathleen Ann Lightner

Kathleen Ann Lightner, 60, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at home in Washington, PA. She was born in Akron, OH, the youngest child of John A. and Joan Hazlett Verderber. Kathleen graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1981. After graduation, she received an associate's degree of business administration from the Sawyer School of Business. The majority of her career was spent in the food industry. She loved to share her gift of baking with many grateful and hungry friends and family. She enjoyed the theater, both onstage and behind the scenes, spending many hours volunteering at the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts and as a member of Washington Community Theatre. She also greatly enjoyed spending time at the beach and traveling around the area, searching out small and large attractions. Kathleen is survived by her siblings, William J. Verderber (Nell), Riverside California, Timothy J. Verderber (Pamela), Washington, PA, Gregory J. Verderber, Monroeville, PA, Suzanne L. Verderber, Goose Creek, SC, and Nancy J. Verderber, Washington, PA; nephew, Samuel R. Verderber, Oslo, Norway; and her Glamor cat Grizzabella (Grizzy). She is predeceased by her parents and brother Dennis L. Verderber. A Celebration Picnic to remember Kathleen Lightner's life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m., on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the Kiwanis Pavilion in Washington Park (283 Dunn Avenue, Washington, PA 15301).
