Karen L. "Bubba" Pepper Montanari

Karen L. “Bubba” Pepper Montanari, 73 of Washington, died Thursday, December 19, 2019, at home, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 1, 1946 in Brownsville, the daughter of the late Thomas W. Butterfield Sr. and Alma Irene McCord Butterfield. Karen was a Washington Hospital School of Nursing graduate and retired as a registered nurse from Washington Hospital as an Operating Nurse. She was an avid fisherman and Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan. She was strong willed and enjoyed life. Karen loved watching sunrises and sunsets and her family, especially spending time with them She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Darrell Pepper, who died in 2008. Surviving are two sons, Wesley S. (Heather D. Jackson) Pepper of Lost Creek, WV and Daren J. (Antoinette M.) Pepper Sr. of Fredericktown; two daughters, Melissa R. (Rick) Miller and Pamela L. (Shawn D.) Thomas  both of Washington; four siblings, Kathy (Howard) Belski of North Carolina, George (Debra) Butterfield of Nebraska, Thomas W. (Gayle) Butterfield Jr. of Uniontown and Sue (Eddie) Black of Texas; eleven grandchildren, Daren J. Pepper Jr., Jennifer R. (Jason Cavanaugh)  Pepper, Marcus A. (Destiny Aldridge) Brown, Elisha L. (Shaun Rice) Pepper, Malik  A. Brown, Allison P. Pepper, Kiera R. Thomas, Weston “McCoy” Pepper-Jackson, Shawn M. Thomas, Rider Pepper-Jackson, Becky Pepper-Jackson; great grandchildren, Parker Haburn, Aiden Pepper, Marcus Brown Jr., Cheyane Cavanaugh, Malaya Brown and Carson L. Rice; brother in laws, David (Alice) Pepper, Dr. Douglas (Marie) Pepper; sister in law, Darla (the late George) Pepper-Miller; dogs, Bella and Sally; special aunt, Helen Phillips; numerous nieces, nephews and aunts, uncles and extended family. A Memorial Gathering will be held Monday, December 23, 2019 from noon to 2 p.m. the time of the Memorial/ Celebration of Life Service at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington with Leo Orlandi officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to assist with funeral expenses.
