Karen Sue Huggins-Chaney

Karen Sue Huggins-Chaney, 65, of Washington, Friday, January 31, 2025, in her home. She was born on July 29, 1959, in Washington, a daughter of Martha Frye Strohecker (the late Rue) and the late Walter “Dick” Huggins. Karen was a graduate of Trinity High School and received her associate’s degree in IT from Penn Commercial. She went on to work in IT at Canon-McMillan School District, West Penn Wire, Dean’s Water, Washington Hospital, and Kay Jewelers. Karen was an active member of the Church of the Covenant, singing and playing the tambourine during the 943 service. She was involved many years in the Friends of Haiti through the Church mission. She loved to travel and spending time with family and good friend. She enjoyed music and singing. On October 6, 2018, she married Mark L. Chaney, who survives. Surviving, in addition to her mother and husband, are a brother-in-law, Jay H. Chaney (Debbie); sisters-in-law Lana J. Seaman and Wendy L. Kirby (Joe); several nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Sue Williams (Paul Collier), who lives in Wales. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30, the hour of service, Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Church of the Covenant, 267 East Beau Street, Washington. Entombment will follow at Washington Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Covenant, The Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2835 E. Carson St. Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15203, and American Cancer Society, 444 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
