Julietta “Julie” Basil Veltri passed away peacefully at her home on April 10, 2022. She was 93. She was the beloved wife of the late Pietro “Pete” Veltri. Born in Follansbee WV, she was the loving daughter of Salvatore and Dominica Basil, and the youngest of 14 children. Julie was a resident of Washington for most of her adult life. She was well known for her love of family, neighbors and friends, her hospitality, her generous and accepting nature, her enjoyment of family gatherings, and her superior cooking and baking skills. For many years while raising her family, Julie assisted Pete at Veltri Cleaners. She also worked as the bookkeeper at Veltri, Inc. for over two decades. Julie was an expert bridge player, enjoyed bowling and golf, served as the President of the Order of Italian Sons and Daughters of America, 9 Alpine Star and was an active member of St. Hilary Church. Julie’s enthusiasm for life was inspiring. Leading by example, she encouraged her loved ones to live each day to the fullest. She was often found teaching friends and family how to cook, offering a sympathetic ear to those in need of comfort, and talking and texting with nieces, nephews and her grandchildren. Julie was an entertaining story teller, as well as a compassionate listener. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her, but never forgotten. Her legacy lives on in her family, to whom she dedicated her life. Julie is survived by her loving and grateful children, Salvatore “Sam” (Janis), Anthony “Tony” (Christine), Frank (Kim), James “Jim” (Beth), and Louis “Lou” (Kathy); her 14 grandchildren Pete (Kim), Samantha (Don), Kimber (Gabe), Julien, Nico, Matthew (Kassandra), Cella (Chad), Justin, Destiny, Alexandra, Gigi, Nicholas, Victoria and Colin; her great-grandchildren, Amelia, Savina, Paige, Dominic, and Giada; dozens of cherished nieces and nephews; as well as sisters-in-law, Virginia (Allan) Angeline, and Dolores; and brothers-in-law, Victor (Ellie), and Michael. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Julie's family at the William G. Neal Funeral Home, 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA on Monday, April 18 from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at St. Hilary Church, 320 Henderson Avenue, Washington. Her interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, on Locust Avenue in Washington.
