Josephine Dire Lugaila

Josephine Dire Lugaila, 98, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024, in Strabane Woods in Washington. She was born March 4, 1926 in Southview, Washington County, a daughter of the late Angelo and Angela Berlingieri Dire. On June 26, 1948, she married John Lugaila, who died on October 14, 1997. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Church in McDonald. Josephine loved homemaking – baking, sewing, gardening and yard work, and painting. She loved helping others and was deeply devoted to her family. She graduated from Hickory High School and went on to work in billing at several HVAC firms: RCA, Ward Electric, and Chapman Corporation from which she retired after 15 years. Surviving are daughters Therese E. (Paul) Dott of Washington, PA and Denise (Robert) Hoyle of The Villages, FL, sister Joann Ross of Washington, grandson Nicholas P. Dott, and several nieces and nephews Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents are brothers Albert, Louis, and Michael Dire; sisters Mary Warrick, Erma Baroni and Edith Vernon; and grandson, Jeffrey Dott. At the request of the deceased, all services are private. The family would like to thank Strabane Woods for their care and compassion.
