Joseph W. Rydzak Sr. of Washington, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 14, 2018. He was born October 2, 1934 in Washington, a son of the late Peter and Pauline Rydzak. Mr. Rydzak was a graduate of Washington High School and lived in the Washington area his entire life. Mr. Rydzak worked for Washington Steel for 31 years, 10 of which he served as a shipping supervisor. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. He was also a member of the Pulaski Club and the Moose. Mr. Rydzak was a very hard worker, loving husband, father and grandfather and an avid sports fan. He enjoyed working outside keeping his yard in pristine condition, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers and spending time with his grandchildren and companion, his dog, Abby. Mr. Rydzak loved to go to Daytona Beach with his wife and family and visit his brother in law and sister in law, Frank and Betty in Chesterfield, Virginia. On July 14, 1962, he married the love of his life, Jean Lesnock, who survives and with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage. Also surviving are four children, Cindy of Virginia, Tony (Kim) Comfort of Washington, Joseph (Debbie) of Washington and Richard (Dawn) of England; three loving grandchildren, Zac Comfort, Karlie Comfort and Stephen Rydzak; a brother, Edward (Virginia) Rydzak of Washington and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Rydzak was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Rydzak and three sisters, Helen, Jessie and Stella. Friends will be received Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church with Father William Feeney as celebrant. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
