John Lowell Yanda, 85, of Washington, died Monday, March 29, 2021, at Southminster Place, Washington. He was born June 22, 1935, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Frank and Bertha Hoffine Yanda. John graduated from Shaler High School. He proudly served his country in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1963. He worked as a Computer Programmer /Analyst for McGraw Edison and Weirton Steel. John played piano and organ from a young age, serving as organist for First Methodist Church and Third Presbyterian Church. He was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan, and a season ticket holder of the Steelers. John was very outgoing, he knew and loved everyone. On April 10, 1965, John married Carol Ann Horne Yanda, who died on January 13, 2021. Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Diane (Scott) Kafana, of Washington, and Linda (John) Anthony, of Irwin; grandchildren, Haley, Morgan, and Gracyn Kafana, William and Evan Anthony; great-grandchild, Xander Lexie; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, John was predeceased by his brother, Dick Yanda, and sister Jane Yanda. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, all services are private. Arrangements are entrusted to William G.
