John Regis “Pete” Yancosek, 83, of Washington, died April 10, 2021 at Washington Hospital. He was born on November 9, 1937, in Washington, the son of the late Clement Charles and Martha Bushta Yancosek. Pete graduated from Immaculate Conception High School. He was a laborer for Cooper Industries and a mechanic for Town Taxi. An avid woodcarver, Pete was a member of Oglebay Woodcarvers Guild of Wheeling, WV, and Washington Woodcarvers. He loved gardening, the outdoors, and just being with people. On January 30, 1960, Pete married Rita Ann Folio Yancosek, who died August 10, 2013. Surviving is a son, John P. (Brigitte) Yancosek of Washington; daughter, Julie A. (Thomas) Melone of Daniels, WV; brother, Richard (Katherine) Yancosek, of Wexford; sister, M.E. Yancosek-Gamble, of Washington; grandchildren, Thomas (Danielle) Melone, Matthew (Adreanna) Melone, John (Samantha) Melone, Joshua Yancosek and Jacob Yancosek; great grandson, Thomas Andrew Melone III; sister-in-law, Virginia Skowvron; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Pete in death was a brother, Clement Daniel Yancosek. At the request of the deceased, all services were private. The family has requested that no flowers be sent.
