John E. Unrue, 87, of Washington, died Monday, March 22, 2021 at Washington Hospital. He was born August 14, 1933, in Marianna, the son of the late Samuel and Martha Clemens Unrue. John retired from Brockway #7 glass plant. He was involved with Canton Township Fire Department since 1969. He was Canton Township’s Fire Chief for many years and a former Canton Township Supervisor. John enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a Cub Scout leader, and midget football coach. He was a veteran of the Army, serving his country from 1956-1958. On September 19, 1955, John married Mary Jane Briggs, who died on May 21, 2012. Surviving is a son, John E. (Mary L.) Unrue, Jr. of Brownsville; daughter, Regina Blankinsop (Dan Singer), of Burgettstown; brother, Delmar (Peggy) Unrue of Washington; sister Dolly Pardeaux of Washington; grandchildren, Jocelyn Wussick (Steven) of Washington, Richard Unrue of Washington, and Jasmine Unrue of Brownsville; great-grandchild Cali Lynae Unrue; and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by siblings Sam, Mary, James, and Michael. All services are private. Arrangements are entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
