John Harvey Manes

John Harvey Manes Jr., 72, of Washington, died Saturday, February 8, 2020. He was born January 24, 1948, in Washington, the son of the late John Harvey Manes Sr. and Annabelle Brooks Manes. John was a graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School, and a Vietnam War veteran, having proudly served with U. S. Navy. He worked as a long haul truck driver. Mr. Manes enjoyed football, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan; and also enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, and watching old Western movies. John was a member of the Taylorstown American Legion, Post #907. Surviving are his siblings, Marsha Lucas, of Washington, Linda Cape, of Bentleyville, Deanna Steele, of Canonsburg, and Melvin Manes, of Washington; as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.  He also leaves behind his loyal companion, his dog, “Bubba” John will be greatly missed by his closest friends. It you were a friend of John’s you were truly blessed. Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Darlene. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 10:30 a.m., in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. The funeral procession will leave from the funeral home at 9:45 a.m.  Arrangements have been entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
