John H. Holt

John H. Holt, 78 of Washington, died Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Washington Hospital. He was born May 15, 1940 in Washington, the son of the late Herbert Holt and Matilda Clemm. John graduated from Trinity High School and Elmira College and received his master’s from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a veteran of U.S. Airforce and worked for Highmark Blue Cross as a computer programmer. John was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and elder. He also sang in the choir for 30 years. He was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175 and the Community Chorus. He loved to travel and spend time with family. On November 21, 1962, he married Barbara Kowalczk, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Lenore (John) Eppley of Indiana, PA; a brother, Britt (Sharon) Holt of St. Louis, MO; a granddaughter, Heather Hershberger; nieces, Bridgette Mathias, Brittany Grenon, Bethany Holt-Watkins and Brianne Ventus.  A Memorial service will Friday, September 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 900 E. Beau St. Washington. Arrangements are entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington.
