John William Durila, 86, of Washington, died July 29, 2021, in the Veterans Administration Hospital – Aspinwall. He was born September 29, 1934, in Independence Township, a son of John Durila and Rebecca Dinch Durila. Mr. Durila graduated from Trinity High School in 1953, and joined the Marines on October 29, 1954, serving until his honorable discharge on October 28, 1957. He received diesel mechanic training through Greer Shop Training, Inc., then worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and operator at Washington Stone Quarry and Stag Construction/Davis Industries. Mr. Durila was also co-owner of J&J Hotel in Marianna. He was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, Marine Corps League 1138, and FFA. Mr. Durila was an amateur radio operator and enjoyed gardening, baking bread, hunting, and spoiling his grandchildren. On December 17, 1960, he married Evelyn Agnes Beall, who died September 5, 1997. Surviving are two sons, John R. Durila of Pittsburgh and Tim Durila of Washington; two daughters, Sara Dreilinger of Vero Beach, Florida and Donna (Ron) Brumley of Waynesburg; four brothers, James Durila of Marianna, and Michael (Debbie) Durila, Kenneth (Kathy) Durila and Jeffery Durila, all of Claysville; five sisters, Helen Beall of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Nancy Mullins of Canonsburg, Mary Wilholt of Washington; Rebecca (Don) Posgate of Washington, and Lorna (Harold) Orum of Taylorstown; four grandchildren, Victoria (Reese) Balllou, Josephine Roudybush, Evelyn White and Eric White; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Dominic Ballou; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are three brothers, Robert, Paul and Dave Durila. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 5th. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery.
