Joanne Anderson

Joanne L. Anderson, 66, of Washington, died May 14, 2018. She was born April 23, 1952, in Jamestown, New York, a daughter of Albert Olmstead of Florida and the late Esther Olmstead.  She lived her early life in Cassadaga, New York, and moved to Pennsylvania in 1976. A homemaker, Mrs. Anderson earned a Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY at Fredonia.  She worked as a registered nurse at Washington Hospital and Greenbriar Treatment Center and also as a special education assistant in the Trinity School District.  For many years, she was also an officer of the regional branch of WAAIME, providing scholarships to many area students. Mrs. Anderson was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. She liked to travel, but mainly enjoyed being with family.  Mrs. Anderson was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all. On March 26, 1977, she married Robert W. Anderson, who survives. She had four daughters, Jamie (Matt) Warzel of Wilmington, North Carolina, Maurisa (Thomas) Havrilla of Vinco, Joni (Scott) Rhea of Silver Spring, Maryland, and the late Mary Anderson. Surviving, in addition to her husband and three daughters, are five grandchildren, Jane and Rose Havrilla, Emmett and Tucker Rhea, and Augustus Warzel; a brother, Brian (Connie) Olmstead of Conneaut Lake; two sisters, Cynthia (Robert) Burbrink of Apopka, Florida and Beverly (the late Daniel) Pfeiffer of Longwood, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 17th, in Immaculate Conception Church.  Burial will be private in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to McGuire Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 48, New Brighton, PA 15066.
