Joan E. Miller Steede, 92, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024, to go home with her late husband, Robert C. Steede. She was born August 22, 1931, in Washington, a daughter of the late John A. and Florence Miller. Joan was a 1949 graduate of Trinity High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Canonsburg School of Nursing in 1952. She was a registered nurse and retired from Canonsburg General Hospital, after 25 years of service. Joan loved her family, pets, flowers and mowing grass. She enjoyed many years of camping in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and the Youghiogheny Dam with her husband, Bob. Surviving are three sons, John (Janet) Steede of Georgia, David Steede of Canonsburg and Barry (Janice) Steede of Washington, with whom she resided; grandchildren John McDonald Jr. of Sycamore and his daughter, Kyleigh, Joell R. Lytle (Ralph Little) and children Devlin and Collin Lytle and Teagan Little, Matthew S. (Emily) of Georgia and their children, Sydney (Brandon) Black and great-great-grandson Roman and great-great-grandson Ransom on the way, and Branson Frost, Barry Jr. of Washington and his children, Bay and Eme Steede of Florida, Curtis and his children, Layne and Rosie, Mandoline (James) Rankin and their children, Vance, Vanessa, and Vivian of Scenery Hill, Adeline of Canonsburg and her daughter, Sarah, Jessie (Chris) Foringer of Washington and their children, Kaylee Jo and Skylar of Washington, Charles Sheppard and his children, Renly and Roman. Also surviving are her loving sisters, Patricia J. Jones of Washington and her children, Lori (Jerry) Matthews and Don (Beth) Jones, as well as many nieces and nephews. Deceased are a daughter, Cindy Jo McDonald Graham; grandchildren Timothy and April Steede; great-grandchild Lily Steede; and sister-in-law Trella Mae Brennan; brother-in-law, Donald Jones. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2024, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2024. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
