Jimmie D. Ritter, Sr., 74, of Washington, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on September 16, 1948, in Washington, a son of the late Mildred Comstock Ritter. Jim attended Trinity High School and worked as a millwright for 32 years at Jessop Steel before retiring in 2005. He was an avid Standardbred horseracing owner and fan, and a member of the NRA. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family was the most important thing to him. In 1974, he married Karen Shuba, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jimmie Ritter and Timmie Ritter, and a daughter, Jamie (Greg) Kalich, all of Washington; four grandchildren, Timmie Ritter, Jr., Aubrie Ritter, Brianna Kalich, and Katelyn Kalich; two brothers, Ralph “Buddy” Ritter, Jr., and Charlie Ritter, both of Washington. Deceased is a brother, William Ritter, and a sister, Mildred “Sue” Ritter. The family would like to thank all of the caretakers from Amedisys Hospice, who provided loving care and helped him in his final days. There will be no public service, per the wishes of the deceased.
