Janis M. “Jan” Selway, 77, of Washington, died on Thursday, January 10, 2019, in the Washington Hospital. She was born on November 7, 1941, in New Castle, a daughter of the late James A. and Helen L. Harmon Shaffer. A graduate of Baldwin High School, she was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Selway was retired from General Carbide, where she had worked as the bookkeeper. Most recently, she had worked at the reception desk at South Hills Chrysler, Jeep and Kia. Jan’s greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the matriarch of the family, and was very proud of all of them. A people person, Jan enjoyed going out and socializing, and she also enjoyed watching all Pittsburgh sports. On August 14, 1961, she married David E. Selway, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Darlene (Lou) D’Oro, of Moscow, PA; nine grandchildren, Nicholas (Ali) Cataldo, Kelsey (Brett) Ross, Alyssa D’Oro, Michael Falcone, Evan D’Oro, Nathan Cataldo, Eric D’Oro, Christopher D’Oro and Mia D’Oro; four great grandchildren, Cameron and Easton Cataldo, Sawyer Cataldo, and Bennett Ross; a son-in-law, Neil Cataldo, and a brother-in-law, Edward Selway. Deceased is a daughter, Dian S. Cataldo. Friends will be received on Sunday, January 13, 2019, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 14, 2019, in Faith United Presbyterian Church, 900 East Beau St., Washington, PA., with Rev. Jason Hefner officiating. All who plan to attend the funeral services are asked to please meet at the church on Monday morning. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
