James M. Zawacki

February 15, 1956 — June 24, 2021

James M. "Darryl" Zawacki, Sr. passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Washington Hospital. Jim, lovingly referred to as Darryl, was born on February 15, 1956, to Joseph and Gladys Zawacki, of McDonald. He had two brothers, Joseph (Betty) and Art, and a sister, Patricia. He was a graduate of Canon-McMillan High School. Following graduation, he began working at Woodville State Hospital, and continues his state employment at Mayview State Hospital, as a dietary transporter and equipment operator. On July 22, 1978, he married Susan Edgar Zawacki, of Lone Pine, and resided in Washington. They had two children, Jamie Yurkovich (Rudy Jr.), of Prosperity, and James Zawacki Jr. (Brenda), of Washington. Jim was a very dedicated and hard-working person. Many people admired him for his work ethic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. Jim had six grandchildren, Austin, Morgan, and Rudolph Yurkovich, and Derek, Alexa, and James III (LJ) Zawacki. After retirement, with more than thirty-five years of working for the state, Jim attended nearly every pageant, baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, and derby for his children that he could. He also enjoyed tractor pulling, mowing grass, and loved spending time in Potter County (God’s Country) at his camp. Jim’s truest pride and joy is his family. The love for his two children and wife is immeasurable and he will grow within his grandchildren and be their angel until we meet again. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, June 27, 2021, from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m., the time of a Blessing Service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington PA 15301.
