James L. Tustin

James Leander Tustin, 92, of Washington, died Sunday, December 10, 2023, in his home. He was born April 22,1931, in Hickory, a son of Clifford and Bessie Tustin. Mr. Tustin served in the Navy from October 21, 1952, until his honorable discharge on October 24, 1956, earning a Navy Occupation Service Medal. He retired from Tri-State Engineering, where he worked as a machinist. He had also worked as a bartender at the Labor Temple. Mr. Tustin was a member of Crossroads Presbyterian Church and the USS Albany Association. He loved golfing and enjoyed socializing and signing the books at the Keystone Club, Arms Club and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. A Mason, Mr. Tustin was a member of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction Scottish Rite. On August 30, 1957, he married Patricia Ann Schott, who died March 22, 2008. Surviving are a daughter, Toni D. Tustin of Washington; an adopted daughter, Brenda L. Kesneck of Washington; a brother, Jack Tustin (Debbie) of Washington; four grandchildren, Megan Berola (Bobby), Joshua Ricker (Kylie), Morgan Jacobson (Chad), and Colten Kesneck; seven great-grandchildren, Shylynn Hamilton, Mia Gilpin, Caleb Gilpin, Trenton Ricker, Rebecca Lanius, Hunter Jacobson, and Natalia Jacobson; five great-great grandchildren, Zeke Jones, Emree Jones, Lenni Maffio, Oaklynn Duchi, and Arielle Gilpin; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a daughter, Jaimee Ann Tustin, and brothers, Junior Tustin and Wayne Tustin. Friends will be received Saturday, December 16th, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m., the time of the funeral service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Interment will be private. Military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Posts 175.
