James Robert Petro, 75, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 24, 1947, in Canonsburg, to the late Charles S. Petro, Sr., and the late Ann Josephine Zernecki Petro. Jim was a 1967 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School. He attended Penn Commercial. He worked at McGraw Edison with 25 years of service. He then was employed at General Electric in Bridgeville and last worked at IGS in Meadowlands. Jim was a member of the St. James Parish in Washington. He had a passion for model trains and fishing. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved going fishing with them. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Roberta, of 55 years; his three daughters, Beth Petro, Cheri Varner, and Jodi Petro Fulks; his grandchildren, RJ, Vicki, Nick, and Brady; his brother, Charles Petro, Jr., his sisters, Rose Courie and Adele Dellapiazza; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Petro, Sr., and Ann Zernecki Petro; his stepmother, Thresa Petro; his sister, Bella Albano; and his uncle, John Zernecki, with whom he was raised. Friends and family will be received from 2 till 6 p.m., on Tuesday, August 16th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Hilary Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 17th at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Canonsburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. James Parish or the UPMC Hillman Center, both in Washington, PA.
