James "John" Davis

James “John” Davis, 83, of Washington, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 3, 2024. John was born on August 4, 1940, to the late Bertha and James Davis. He was the beloved husband of Judith E. Davis, who survives, and the father of the late Kimberly Miller (Harry). Surviving children are Johnny Davis, Shari Smithyman (James), Bridget Bertko (Eric), Jeanine Fonner (Frank), and Patrick Connors. Also surviving are his siblings, Margie Vogel (Ed), Carl Davis (Paula), and Charlotte Lee (Peter, deceased); 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. John was especially close to his nephew, Michael Zborovsky (Karen), and his grandson, Luke Smithyman. John was an Army veteran and graduated from Washington & Jefferson College with a degree in psychology. He taught drafting at Gateway Technical Institute and served as a draftsman and production supervisor at Hankinson Corporation. He was a member of the VFW in Washington. John loved wolves and served as the president of the U.S. American Wolfdog Association. He also loved camping and enjoyed many years with friends of his CB radio club, using the handle “White Dog.” Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Monday, May 13th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 14th. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
