James “Jimmy” M. Johnson, 65, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024. He was born October 22, 1959, in Monongahela, a son of the late Melvin A. and Deloris “Dottie” M. Muir Johnson. Jimmy was a 1977 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, where he enjoyed playing the trumpet in the school band. He had worked for Dynamet for 45 years, beginning his employment in 1979. He was the foundation and the glue that held everything together and was instrumental to the entire company. He was extremely proud when he finally was recognized in 2023 with the Impact Award. Jimmy enjoyed hunting and loved country music and running karaoke and open mic nights. Passionate about music, he was a self-taught musician on the steel guitar, banjo and fiddle. He wrote several songs and performed under the stage name “DoubleJ.” He was well known for driving in front of Walmart and Sam’s Club blasting his music and singing as loudly as he could with the windows down, which he named “Car Karaoke.” On August 6, 1994, he married, Pamela “Pam” J. Horn Johnson, who survives. Also surviving are two stepchildren, Jeremy (Kayla) Wiley and Jennifer Wiley; seven stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Cindy (Tom) Fawcett and Tammy (Randy) Sherman; six nieces and nephews, Michael (Meghan) Johnson, Kristopher, Tayler and Andrew Fawcett, Taynia (Antonio) Carosella and Tabby Homme; and three great-nieces and nephews, Samie and Brooklynne Homme and Carina Carosella. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2024, and from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, Saturday, December 14, 2024, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Dave Dillie officiating. Interment will follow in Claysville Cemetery.
