James “Jim” Leroy Durila, 80, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 13, 2025, in Donnell House, Washington. Jim was born September 1, 1944, in Buffalo Village. He has resided for the last 61 years in Fisher Hollow, West Beth Township. He was the 8th of 12 children born to John and Rebecca Dinch Durila and also two adopted children making 14. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, John, Paul, Robert, Dave, Jeffrey, and Helen. Jim is survived by his six children, James Jr. (Denice), Lisa (Bob), Tina, Chad, Dustin (Mariah) and Ashley (Michael); six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings Nancy, Mary, Mike, Becky, Kenny, Lorna, and Kelly; and many dozens of nieces and nephews. He worked for many years at Marianna Mine #58 and finished his coal mining career in Butler. After retirement, he purchased JJ’s Hotel and Bar in Marianna with his brother, John, which they operated for 23 years. Jim loved to plant a huge garden and was well known for his tomatoes. He was a member of American Legion Post 744 Steele Lillie in Mariana. Jim will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Interment will follow in Independence Cemetery.
