James Ray Henderson, 89, of Washington, died July 25, 2023, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. He was born August 24, 1933, in Hadley, PA, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson. Mr. Henderson served in the United States Air Force from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1956, with the rank of Airman First Class. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for his service. James worked as a cable splicer for Bell Telephone for 39 years. He enjoyed building model airplanes and helping friends with home renovations. On December 17, 1955, James married Mary Lou Lyke, who died August 29th, 2012. Surviving is his son, James W. Henderson, a brother, Guy (Terri) Mattocks, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his sister, Eva Valeta. Family and friends will be received Saturday, July 29, 2023, 11am until 1pm, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, followed by the service at 1pm. Interment will be private in the West Middletown Cemetery.
