James Glen Fawcett

July 15, 1926 — January 4, 2020

James Glen “Jim” Fawcett, 93, of Washington, died on Saturday, January 4, 2020, in Transitions Health Care. He was born on July 15, 1926, in Finleyville, a son of the late Frank and Sarah Pritchard Fawcett. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Fawcett served in Europe, during World War II, from 1944 until his Honorable Discharge, with a rank of Sergeant, in 1947. Mr. Fawcett spent his life doing what he loved, and what he had a passion for, farming, working with horses, and hitching wagons, and he was very mechanically inclined, which served him well on the farm.  A people-person, Jim loved family get togethers, and enjoyed square dancing.  He was a member of the Grange, and the American Legion in Monongahela. Surviving are two daughters, Billie Kathleen (the late Joe) Grace, of San Jacinto, CA, and Roberta Diane Scott, of Switzerland; a brother, William (Ida) Fawcett, of New Eagle; a granddaughter, Natoma (Eric) Erickson, of Shawnee, OK; four great grandchildren, Alexandria Celest Erickson, Jordan Brian McAllister, Cheyenne Cleo (Chris Parker) McAllister, and Keylan Dawn McAllister; a great-great granddaughter, Hazel Dawn McAllister; a niece, Saundra Dickinson, who was his caregiver, and with whom he shared a home; and numerous nieces and nephews. Deceased are a grandson, Frederick Allen McAllister, who died in 2013; and eight siblings, Louise Curdie, Tom Fawcett, Della Corbett, Mary Snyder, Jack Fawcett, Robert Fawcett, Nellie Piert, and Joyce Gulick. Friends will be received on Sunday, January 12, 2020, from 2 to 4 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, where services will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, January 13, 2020. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Military Rites will be accorded at the cemetery by the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HG Parkinson FFA, Attention Jodie Hoover 110 Fort Cherry Rd McDonald PA 15057. Checks payable to Fort Cherry Activity Fund.
