James Leroy “Butchie” Ullom, Jr., 37, of West Alexander, died on April 11, 2022. He was born on January 13, 1985, in Washington, a son of James Leroy “Butch” Ullom, Sr. and Barbara Byers Ullom, of Claysville. James was a graduate of McGuffey High School. He worked as a supervisor for Marshall County Coal Mine. Mr. Ullom was very proud of his service in the United States Air Force, having served from January, 2004 until November, 2006. A selfless man, who never met a stranger, James talked to everyone, and bent over backwards to help all who needed his help. He was such a kind and generous person, and was loved by all who knew him. He enjoyed being outside, and was happy when he was hunting, fishing in his pond, singing, and playing his guitar. Above all, Butchie loved his family, they were everything to him, and being a dad gave him so much joy. He absolutely adored his daughter, whom he called his little “Laney Bug,” she was the love of his life. Surviving are his fiancée, Nicole Crispin; a daughter, Laney Anne Ullom; a son, Leroy, who is “on the way;” a stepson, Zane Budzanoski; two stepdaughters, Kaylee Budzanoski and Laylah Budzanoski; three siblings, Thor (Darla) Plants, Tasha (Justin) Seibert, and Nathan (Jessica) Ullom; two nephews, Evan Seibert, and Noah Seibert; a niece, Kristen Plants; his paternal grandfather, Larry Liggett; as well as many aunts, uncles and family. Deceased are his maternal grandparents, Marvin Plants and Betty Byers; and his paternal grandparents, Ova “Red” Ullom and Mary “Dolly” Liggett. Friends and family will be received on Friday, April 15, 2022, from 2 until 4 p.m., and 6 until 7 p.m., the time of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. Military Rites will be accorded at the funeral home by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
