James "Bud" Earl Miller, Jr.

James E. “Bud” Miller, Jr., 74, of Follansbee, WV, formerly of Claysville, passed away on May 26, 2022, in Weirton Hospital, Weirton, WV, following a brief illness. He was born on October 3, 1947, in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late James E. Miller, Sr., and Dorothy Jean Miller. A 1965 graduate of McGuffey High School, Bud attended Wheeling Barber College, before being drafted into the United States Army in 1966. He served in Germany as a Military Police Officer, until his honorable discharge in 1968. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Miller worked several years at Hartly Barber Shop, Zrimms Auto Supply, and Jessop Steel. He retired from Drakenfield, after sixteen years. An avid gun collector, Bud had a passion and love for hunting and trapping. He loved doing his Sudoku puzzles, working on lawn tractors, and most of all he adored his beautiful flower and rose gardens. Bud loved his longtime dog, Buddy, his two cats, Fuzz and Squiggy, and his granddogs, Brie and Gouda. Surviving are his loving wife, Jackie Miller; his only son, James E. “Jamey” Miller, III, of Wellsburg, WV; a brother, Raymond “Jake” (Kathy) Miller, of Avella; three sisters, Eva Jean (David) Naylor, of Washington, Judith Kay (the late Gordon) Ware, of Washington, and Dorothy Ann (Edward) Margaria, of Avella; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, whom he cherished. Friends will be received on Thursday, June 2, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., the time of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, with Pastor Sue Petritis officiating. Full military honors will be accorded at the funeral home prior to the service, by the United States Army and the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
