J. Paul Scott, 82, of Claysville, died on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at home, following a brief illness. He was born on June 1, 1935, in Greene County, a son of the late J. Paul and Gladys Cree Scott. The family moved to Washington County, settling in Buffalo Township, where he lived all his life. Mr. Scott worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator, owning his own company, and as a truck driver for various companies. He belonged to Taylorstown Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder. J.P. enjoyed traveling with his wife Mary, in their motorhome. He also enjoyed working in his shop, and maintaining his property, until he was unable to due to his health. His first wife, Roberta Jenkins is deceased. In 1996, he married Mary Witsberger Neal, who survives. He will be missed by all his family, and many friends. Also surviving are four children, Terri (John) Riley, of Concord, OH, Leiann (Mark) Richards, of Ham Lake, MN, J. Darren (Cindi) Scott, of Claysville, and Bryan (Sue) Scott, of Malden, PA; two stepchildren, David (Sue) Neal, of Wexford and Scott (Jane) Neal, of Washington; five grandchildren, Danielle (Sean) McKnight, of Claysville, Tia (Brian) Odom, of Painsville, OH, Melissa Bellay, of Stroudsburg, PA, Melinda (Judd) Wolfe, of Claysville, and William (Brittany) McAdoo, of Claysville; seven great grandchildren, Teagan Odom, Emmett, Ella, Erra, Enniyah and Ettley Wolfe, and Elaina McAdoo; nine step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Lois Scott, of Florida and Washington. Deceased are two brothers, William Bailey Scott and James Leroy Scott, and a stepdaughter, Kelly Neal. Friends will be received on Thursday, February 15, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Home, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, where services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 16, 2018, with Mark Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Park.
