J. Adam Garrettson

November 21, 1969 — April 27, 2018

J. Adam Garrettson, 48 of Washington formerly of Indiana, PA died suddenly April 27, 2018 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The son of Dr. James A. Garrettson and Deanna Walker Garrettson, he was born at Fort Belvoir, VA. Since he was born below the Mason-Dixon line, he often kidded that he was a “little rebel”. He was of the Presbyterian faith. A graduate of Indiana Area Senior High School, class of 1988, he was known for his pranks and wit and class spirit. Captain of the IHS rifle team his senior year, he placed first in many matches and was second in the WPIAL championship match. Subsequently, he graduated from Waynesburg College, (now University), Waynesburg, PA in 1993, where he was member of Delta Sigma Phi. He was employed by Service Link as a mortgage funder. He lived for the summertime when he could fish for small mouth bass, perch and pike in Canada with family and friends. Besides fishing, Adam loved hunting with his Dad, especially their “bucket list” trip to South Dakota for pheasant. The old Garrettson farm was his stomping grounds because his heart was in the country. Adam was a member of the Elks Club, Independent Club, and the Anawanna Sportsman Club. He was a fan of all sport teams from Pittsburgh and enthusiastically watched them with his buddies. He married the love of his life, Jolene Marie Ulrich on August 6, 2016. They enjoyed the weekends where they visited local events, craft shows, flea markets, and restaurant hopping. They reveled in each other’s company. Loving memories are cherished by his surviving wife, Jolene; parents, Jim and Dee Garrettson, Indiana, PA; sister, Gwen G. Rifici (Lou), of Medina, OH; niece Jeana (Anthony); great- niece, Evelyn Mahramus of Cleveland, OH; nephew, Jonathan Rifici, Cleveland, Oh; mother-in-law, Jeanette Nord of Goodfield IL; father -in- law, Norman (Janet) Ulrich, of Goodfield, IL; brother-in-law, Brian (Courtney) Ulrich and their daughters, Luda, Katya, of Los Angeles, CA; uncles Don Walker, Bill ( Donna ) Walker of Flat Rock MI; his fluffy pet cats, Puff and Nala at home and many cousins. Because of his loving charity toward people, he was a regular blood donor and at the end of his life, an organ donor. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mabel and James Garrettson and; maternal grandparents, Richard and Anne Walker (Wootton); sister, Christine Anne Garrettson and his beloved Mama kitty. Friends will be received on Wednesday May 2 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in The William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd. 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, Pa. Where service will be held on Thursday May 3 at 11:00 am with Brian Ulrich and the Jeff Diedrich officiating. Interment to follow at Oakmont Cemetery, Waynesburg, PA to rest for eternity with his sister and many Garrettson relatives.
