Irma Jean Battistoni, 94, of Washington, passed peacefully in the Donnell House, surrounded by loving family, on August 10, 2023. She was born on July 8, 1929, in Mather, a daughter of the late Bert and Lora Baber McCarty. A graduate of Jefferson High School, Irma went on to earn her Licensed Practical Nursing certificate. Ms. Battistoni worked as an LPN at Western Center, until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church. Irma enjoyed collecting teddy bears, traveling, especially bus tours, and she loved baking all sorts of delectable things, particularly during the holidays. She loved people, and doing things for others, and she enjoyed volunteering at the church and the hospital. She was a charter member of the Wilfred Cameron Wellness Center, where she went daily. What gave her the greatest joy was her grandchildren. Family was everything to her. Surviving are a son, Raymond (Mary Jane) Battistoni, of Lafayette, CO; three daughters, Terrie (Stan) Myers, of Washington, Sandra Glass, of Pittsburgh, and Kimberly Battistoni, of Washington; eight grandchildren, Jason (Chrissy) Myers, Craig (Jennifer) Myers, Ronald (Tammy) Kingan, Jennifer (David) Garfield, Ryan (Kim) Kingan, David (Erin) Battistoni, Brittany (Chris) Thomas, and Patrick Glass; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two step great grandchildren. Deceased are siblings, Opal Duerring, Madeline Soliday, Shirley French, Lucille Esmon, and Maxine Phillips. Friends will be received on Sunday, August 13, 2023, from 3 to 7 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 14, 2023. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
