Howard Lawrence Carl, 92, of Hickory, died on January 28, 2022, in Washington Hospital. He was born on May 29, 1929, a son of the late Walter Arnold and Addah Bell Carl. Howard was a graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School. Mr. Carl worked as an installer and repairman for Bell of PA for forty-one years. A proud veteran of the United States Army, having served from June 28, 1951, until his Honorable Discharge, with the rank of Corporal, on June 4, 1953. Mr. Carl was a fifty-year member of the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8319, and he also belonged to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Post 776, and the Arms Club. He owned, worked on, and showed classic cars, and he loved his Cocker Spaniels. On February 12, 1972, Howard married Shirley Schollaert, who survives. Also surviving are a brother, Raymond E. Carl; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, James and Melvin Carl. At the request of the deceased, all services were private.
