Herbert "Junior" William Davis, Jr.

Herbert William “Junior” Davis, Jr., 88, of Washington, died on November 13, 2022, in Transitions Healthcare. He was born on February 8, 1934, in Uniontown, a son of the late Herbert W. Davis, Sr. and Nellie King Davis. A hard working man, Mr. Davis worked for much of his life as a coal miner, before finishing his working career as a truck driver. He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion, and a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Junior enjoyed gambling at both places with tickets, while enjoying his Sprite and potato chips. Junior liked to hang out at the Shop n Save coffee shop, and enjoyed watching football with his son-in-law, Greg. He loved his black motorcycle, but most of all he adored his family and grandchildren. On June 16, 1956, he married the love of his life, Wilda Cummins, who died on February 15, 1992. Surviving are his daughters, Margaret Crow, of California, Beth Davis, of Paw Paw, IL, and Jodi (Greg) Hackney, of Washington, with whom he made his home for twenty-five years before moving to Transitions Healthcare; his grandchildren, Cathy Jo Davis, of Oregon, Joanna Temple, of Washington, Jodi-Lyn (Jack) Manzella, of Washington, and Kayla Hackney, of Washington; great grandchildren, Benson, Dakota, Brandon, Destinee, Jack, Lincoln and Kade; siblings, Dwight Davis and Janie Rubright; as well as several nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are a son, Thomas Davis; a grandchild, BJ Temple; and siblings, Stella, Lolly, Bobby, Floyd, Earl, Jerry, Dwayne, Donnie, Johnny and Richard. Friends will be received on Friday, November 18, 2022, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. the time of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. Burial will follow in North Ten Mile Cemetery.
