Helen Elizabeth Stockdale, 93 of Washington, died Friday, December 15, 2017, surrounded by her family at the Donnell House. She was born August 23, 1924 in Greene County, the daughter of the late Charles Meek and Abbie Anderson Meek. Helen was a 1943 graduate of Waynesburg High School and worked at J.C. Penney Co. for 8 years. She was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church. Helen enjoyed camping, traveling, crossword puzzles, flea markets and spending time with family and was a Steeler fan. On December 14, 1945, she married Paul H. Stockdale, who died December 26, 2010. Surviving are a son, Gary Stockdale of Charleroi; two daughters, Sue Scott of Washington, Patty (Al) Harmon of Washington, with whom she made her home, seven grandchildren, Garrett Stockdale, Russell (Collette) Stockdale, Matthew (Pam) Scott, Natalie (Jamie) Wooldridge, Amber (Joshua) Gardner, Brittany (Nate) Reichenbach and Courtney Lilly; 25 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; her caregiver, Julie St. Vincent, her best friend since childhood, Betty Brownlee. Deceased is a brother, Arthur Meek and a daughter in law, Carole Stockdale. Friends will be received Monday, December 18, 2017 from 2 to4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor George Garancosky officiating.
