Helen Grandel, 82, of South Franklin Township, passed away March 16, 2024. She was born April 11, 1941, in Pleasant Grove, a daughter of the late Harry Phillips and Wilma Daugg Phillips. Mrs. Grandel retired from the Washington Hospital Human Resources Department. She had also worked at Fairmont Supply and Dollar Savings Bank. She was a Baptist and member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Grandel enjoyed dancing, playing games online, going to casinos, and traveling to all the states in the United States. She loved to play Bridge, 500, Hearts and was a Poker player. On September 18, 1965, she married Jack Grandel, who survives. Also surviving are a brother, Donald Phillips; a daughter-in-law, Wendy Grandel; two grandchildren, Morgan Renee Grandel and Evan Wayne Grandel; and two sisters-in-law, Lois Phillips and Barbara Cazille. Deceased are a son, Scot Morgan Grandel; a brother, Herb Phillips; a sister, Ethyl Ryan and her husband, Big Bob Ryan; and a sister-in-law, Cleo Phillips. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024, with Pastor Rich Applegarth officiating.
