Helen Irene Ammons

Helen Irene Ammons, 75, of Claysville, died Saturday, May 27, 2023, in her home. She was born March 18, 1948, in Washington, the daughter of the late William Dewey Montgomery and Hannah Rebecca Schrader. Helen attended McGuffey High School and was a clerk at the Claysville Truck Stop for ten years. She enjoyed playing bingo and doing word search puzzles. Helen was Methodist by faith. On January 23, 1966, Helen married Kenneth Eugene Ammons, who died July 3, 2008. Surviving is her son, Kenneth Eugene Ammons, Jr.; a brother, Harold Bailey Montgomery; a sister, Frances Bennett; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews, Mary Louise Hartzog, Robert Montgomery, as well as others; and good friend, Peggy Thompson. Preceding her in death was a brother, James Loar and sisters, Lucy Montgomery, Alice Marie Montgomery, and Eva Jane Loar. Family and friends will be received Thursday, June 1, 2023, 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, the place of service on Friday, June 2nd at 1:30 pm. Interment to follow in Claysville Cemetery.
