Harry A. "Hezzy" Reese

Harry A. “Hezzy” Reese, 85 of Washington, passed away peacefully, April 20, 2018, surrounded by his family at the Donnell House. He was born February 6, 1933 in Washington, the son of the late R. E. “Mike” Reese and Zelma Locy Reese. Hezzy graduated from Trinity High School in 1952 and served in the U. S. Army for two years. He worked for Jessop Steel Company for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He was a Square Dance Caller, “Hezzy Reese and the Circle Four” for 37 years and was an auctioneer “Red Barn Auction” for 45 years, retiring in 2014. In 1976, he along with his son, Pat accomplished a life-long dream of his by remodeling his barn. It became a place for regular auctions, social events for family and the community for many, many, years. He was a member of Lone Pine Christian Church. On July 24, 1955, he married Frances Ellis, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Patrick E. (Midge) Reese; two daughters, Amy R. (James) Day and Deborah (Thomas) Leech; a sister, Garnet (Robert) Withrow; five grandchildren, Elisha Dawn Leech, Eric (Lindsey) Day, Chasity (Derek) Hoover, Jayme (her fiancé, Patrick Schuster) Day, Brandon (Megan) Leech; two step grandchildren, Larry Haney and Michael (Lisa) Haney; 11 great grandchildren, Cael, Reese, Braygen, Teagan, Logan, Mason, Harley, Paige, Calissa, Michael and Christian. Deceased are two brothers, Samuel E. Reese and Raymond E. Reese Jr.; a sister, Helen Frazee. Friends will be received Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, April 23, 2018 from 10 to 11 a.m. the time of service at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Lone Pine Christian Church Cemetery, In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Concordia Hospice of Washington (The Donnell House), 10 Leet St, Washington, PA 15301
