Harold David Jones, 76, of Payson, Arizona, died unexpectedly on January 21, 2023. He was born on October 22, 1946, in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Ellen Elizabeth Tippie Jones Geronime and Gene Jones. He was a proud veteran of the United Stated Marine Corps, having served from October 25, 1963, until his honorable discharge, with the rank of Corporal, on January 11, 1967. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with One Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal With Device, and the Rifle Marksman Badge. Mr. Jones earned a Bachelor degree in computer programming from the Ohio State University in 1972. Following graduation, he went on to create the entire computer system for Ohio State Hospitals. In his younger years, he was owner and operator of an over the road transportation company. Harold enjoyed cooking, reading, riding motorcycles and horses, traveling, and computer games. He adored spending time with his youngest grandsons, Derrick and Preston, and his beloved dog Nilah. Surviving are children, David (Sherry) Jones, Sr., of Pickerington, OH, Michael Jones, of Rochester, and Christina (Harold) Maleski, of Hubbard, OH; a sister, Brenda (Jack Branham) Wigal, of Groveport, OH; a brother, John Jones, of Buckeye Lake, OH; grandchildren, Morgan Jones, of Rochester, Nicole and Aaron Jones, of Pickerington, OH, Ashley (Ian) Cushey, of Washington, Alayna (Eric) Ross, of Finleyville, Aniah (Caleb) Maleski, of Coal Center, Alysson Earlywine, of Finleyville, Derrick Lenzi, of Hubbard, OH, and Preston Maleski, of Hubbard, OH; great grandchildren, Ava, Emma and Grace Cushey, Brayden and Trevor Earlywine, Gabriella Ross, Savanna and Dominic Maleski; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings, James Wigal, Jack Wigal and Connie Keelin. A service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., in the pavilion at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, where full military honors will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps and Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
