Goldie L. Ewing, 75 of Washington, died Monday, March 19, 2018 at Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care. She had been in declining health for the past five years. She was born February 15, 1943 in Washington, the daughter of the late James McMasters and Sadie Ross McMasters. Goldie attended Washington High School and worked at Shorty’s for 20 years and later at Wendy’s for several years as the breakfast manager. She enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the USA. She also enjoyed serving and helping others. On June 20, 1983 she married Phillip E. Ewing, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Sandra Smith of Washington; two step daughters, Pamela (Stephen) Kurtz of Mechanicsville, VA and Deborah (Douglas) Holley of Houston TX; fifteen grandchildren, three step grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one step great grandchild, a sister in law, Lois Ewing Podwills, and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are two sons, Michael and Paul Smith; four sisters, Betty Helman, Norma Stanley, Clara Riggle and Pearl McMasters; and two brothers, James “Jingles” McMasters and Ronald McMasters, who died as an infant. Friends will be received Friday, March 23, 2017 from noon to 2 p.m., the time of service, at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, with Pastor Jeffrey C. Diedrich officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Gardens.
