Glen Edgar Dean, 96 of Washington, died Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Presbyterian Senior Care, Southmont.
He was born August 4, 1921 in Washington, the son of the late Charles H. Dean and Deborah Roche Dean.
Glen was a veteran of the U. S. Army, where he served from 1945 to 1946 in Hawaii and received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Ribbon.
He retired from Reliance Electric as a welder and worked for Hazel Atlas-Continental Can in his early years.
He was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
Glen loved working on and completely restoring vehicles. He also enjoyed doing body repair and painting and was known for his quality work.
On May 15, 1941, he married Julia Jubas, who died March 22, 1988.
Surviving are a son, Glen R. (Karen) Dean of Washington; a daughter, Carolyn A. (Clarence W.) Behanna of Washington; four grandchildren, Shawn M. Behanna, Staci (Jim) Gasper, Michael (Melissa) Tomcyk and Matthew Tomcyk; three great grandchildren, Jordan Gasper, Jennavieve Gasper and Aria Tomcyk; numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Janet Tomcyk; six brothers, Charles, Joseph, Donald “Boone”, Gerald “Jerry”, John and Lester “Mike” Dean; a step brother, Harold “Ted” Roche; a sister Priscilla Zipko.
Friends will be received Sunday, October 15, 2017 from noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington where services will be held Monday, October 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Larry Wiltrout officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
