Geraldine Mae Smith

Geraldine Mae Melone Smith, 96, of Washington, died on July 29, 2022. She was born November 1, 1925, a daughter of Raymond and Wenona Gary Melone. She was married on October 30, 1943, to James Hodgens Smith, Jr. who died on April 18, 1995. Mrs. Smith attended Chartiers Township Schools. She was a lifetime member of Chartiers Cross Roads Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon for many years. Surviving are her son, James Hodgens Smith III (Ardith), of Fort Myers, FL; four grandchildren, Ann Malys (Coy), of Bentleyville, Shari Brownlee (Michael), of Claysville, James C. Smith (Amber), of Belmont, MA, and Bethany Smith, of Fort Myers, FL; seven great-grandchildren, Coy Malys Jr. (Sammi), of Steubenville, OH, Chelsea Malys Riggin (Tommy), of Bentleyville, Travis Brownlee (Kayla), of Washington, Jacob Brownlee, of Washington, Amber Brownlee, of Claysville, and Carter and Alice Smith, of Belmont, MA; seven great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by one sister, Rose Morgan, of Bridgeville. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Smagner; a brother, Floyd Melone; an infant sister, Grace Virginia Melone; and an infant granddaughter, Heather Michelle Smith. Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Mt. Prospect Cemetery. All attending the services are asked to please meet at the funeral home by no later than 9:30 a.m., to line up for the procession to the cemetery. To celebrate Mrs. Smith’s life and love for her family, a memorial service will be held at Chartiers Cross Roads Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Chartiers Cross Roads Church, 502 Old Hickory Ridge Road, Washington, PA 15301.
