Geraldine M. Mccombs

Geraldine Mae McCombs, affectionately known as "Jimmie,” went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Sunday, August 26th, 2018. Jimmie was born on Christmas Day, December 25th, 1937, in Washington PA, the daughter of the late Evelyn " Bill" Ann McCombs Knestrick and Buddy McCombs.   Jimmie is survived by two sisters, Barbara "Bobbie" Ardeno and Beverly (Charles) Hadix. She was also greatly loved by her nephews Frank "Dink" Ardneo, Mike Ardeno, Robert (Lori) Ardeno, Justin Hadix and Dakota Hadix. Jimmie was very close to her Aunt, Doloris "Dodo" McClelland, and to her many cousins and other relatives. Jimmie was gifted in sewing, embroidery, art, decorating and creating beautiful flower arrangements. She loved finding treasures at flea markets and collecting antiques.  She loved growing sunflowers. Jimmie was proud of her beautiful home where she resided for many years.   She always enjoyed telling jokes and stories and making others laugh. She loved her dog "Butter." Though completely deaf, Jimmie read lips and hearts and was keenly intuitive, able to look at a face and discern the condition of the soul. She had compassion and empathy and generously shared her love. Amazing in light of her deafness, she wrote "songs" and authored sermons and poems.  Jimmie had a great love for the Bible and for her Lord Jesus. She held no advanced degrees but her wisdom was second to none. Though she was not "wealthy " In the world's terms, Jimmie was rich and immensely blessed. Her life story, absent of things like houses, material goods or travel, was overflowing in contentment, sincere happiness and joy, finding beauty and laughter in the smallest of life's daily offerings. Jimmie will be sorely missed, and always remembered. She was a uniquely gifted soul, and her words and the memories of her deeds, stories, jokes and sermons will remain forever treasured in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. However brief the encounter, she made a lasting impression. Jimmie once wrote a poem with the refrain " Hurry, Hurry to God in prayer." Her loved ones now take comfort in those words as she is now "home,” reunited with her loved ones, and rejoicing in the fullness of life with her beloved Lord.  Friends will be received from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m., the time of service, on Thursday, August 30th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.  Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
