George A. Meyer

George A. “Skeeter” Meyer, 86, of Cokeburg, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023 in Premier Washington Health Center. He was born on August 31, 1936 in Washington, a son of the late Frank A. and Elizabeth M. Stauffer Meyer. A proud West Ender, Skeeter spent many, many years in Washington before relocating to Cokeburg. He was a 1954 graduate of Washington High School and attended California University of Pennsylvania for two years, majoring in biology. Skeeter proudly served his country with the United States Air Force during Vietnam, earning the National Defense Service Medal and the OCC Medal. He was a member of the VFW Post 927 in Washington. He was an animal lover and enjoyed reading, wood carving, listening to classical music, and watching sci fi. In 1977, he married Patricia K. Kennedy, who survives. Also surviving is a sister, Marcelene Meyer Bryner (Don); a sister-in-law, Maddy Meyer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Frank Meyer, Mary Lee Forquer (Ray), and William “Bill” Meyer. Services and interment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies were private.
