George “Jerry” Gerald Schurr, 83, of Washington, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024, in his home. He was born February 15, 1941, a son of the late George S. Schurr and Louella M. McAnany Schurr. George was a graduate of Canonsburg High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1964 as an Airman 2nd Class and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. George was employed by McGraw Edison for 42 years as an electrician. He was also the owner and operator of Schurr Electric. George taught electronics classes at Triangle Tech. He was Roman Catholic by faith. George was a member of and helped design the Claysville Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. On May 22, 1989, he married his wife, Debra Furr Schurr, who passed away November 17, 2017. Also deceased is his first wife, Mary Lou Powell Schurr, who passed away September 24, 1965. Surviving are two sons, Gerald “Bud” Thomas Schurr and Donald Paul Schurr; four grandchildren, Whitni, Vince, Hunter and Colin; a brother, Randal J. (Diana) Schurr; a sister, Michele (Thomas) Loncaric; and nieces and nephews Paul, Marissa, Nicole and Tim. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2024, in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Everyone attending the service is asked to meet at 10 a.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 9256 Allison Avenue, Washington. Military rites will be accorded by Claysville American Legion Post 639.
