George Herbert Stein

George Herbert Stein III, 74, of Washington, formerly of Salisbury, Somerset County, died Thursday, February 8, 2024, in Donnell House, Washington. He was born November 26, 1949, in Meyersdale, a son of the late George Herbert and Beatrice Ickes Stein. Mr. Stein worked as a surveyor throughout his life, until he retired from Penn Dot after seven years. He was a graduate of Salisbury Elk Lick High School. Mr. Stein was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy on the USS Enterprise. He was Lutheran. Mr. Stein was a member of American Legion of Salisbury. He loved his dog, Levi, spending time with friends at Tonya’s Tavern, the outdoors and spending time in Salisbury hunting. Surviving are his wife, Sherril Johnson Stein; daughter Kelli S. Stein; and niece Kathy Hughes. Deceased are a son, George H. Stein IV, and a brother, Robert Ickes. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024, in William G. Neal Funeral Home, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
