George L. Dean

George L. Dean, 90, of Washington died on January 13, 2023, in his home. He was born on March 5, 1932, in Uniontown, a son of the late William and Olive Dean. A graduate of Washington High School, he was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church. George was a Korean War veteran of the United States Air Force, having served from December 3, 1952, until his honorable discharge on December 2, 1956. His last duty assignment was with the 19th Weather Squadron. For his service, he was awarded the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Dean was retired from McGraw Edison, where he worked as a machinist. A lifetime member of Washington Golf Club, he loved golf, and enjoyed going to the Meadows Racetrack. On August 17, 1953, he married the love of his life, Elsie Rocco, who died on February 3, 2022. Surviving are three children, George Keith Dean, of Washington, Kathi (Ken) Jennings, of Washington, and Kirk A. (the late Robin) Dean, of Washington; eight grandchildren, Kristin (Jason) Mellinger, Rachael (Lina) Dean, Alisha (Charlie) McGowan, Brittany (Jake) Varner, Aaron (Laura) Jennings, Patrick (Shianne) Jennings, Jeremy (Chrissy) Dean, and Kinsey Dean; and eighteen great grandchildren, Eziekel, Fiona, Jonathan, Stella, Cannon, Parker, Carter, Kylynn, Brynlee, Blakeley, Jaxton, Brael, Barrett Kenneth, Shelby, Daphne, Shade, Blu and Kola. Deceased is sister, Kathleen Moore. Friends and family are welcome on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the time of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
