George William Dawes, 77, of Washington, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024. He was born May 17, 1947, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late George Dawes and Patricia E. Hilt. George received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Point Park College in 1972. He was an environmental science project manager for Molycorp for over 40 years. George was Catholic by faith. He enjoyed working on his farm and golfing. He loved his dog, Tucker, and spending time with his great-grandchildren. He was known as “the answer man.” George was known as a saint and savior until the very end. On December 12, 1982, he married Dolores Bird Dawes, who passed away October 11, 2005. Surviving are a stepson, Larry Lindley; two stepdaughters, Janet Medlen and Kathy Hull; a grandchild, Crystal Rivera; two great-grandchildren, Preston and Anthony Rivera-Dawes; two brothers, Tim Dawes and Dennis Dawes; a sister, Pat Slosar; and several loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 12 to 3 p.m., the hour of service, Thursday, October 17, 2024, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Deacon Barry Krofcheck officiating.
