Genevieve Ann Sonson

Genevieve Ann Sonson, age 91, lived a beautiful life led by love, unwavering faith and steadfast courage. Genevieve raised her family in Washington, and Poquoson, VA, before permanently residing in Fort Myers, FL where she passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023, with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 13, 1932, in Richeyville to Victor and Genevieve “Effie” Vihlidal. Genevieve will be remembered for her selfless compassion, unending devotion to her faith, and her immense love for family. She spent many fulfilling years practicing as a dental hygienist and helping others through her work at the Poquoson Pharmacy, a job that she truly loved. Beloved wife of 62 years to Charles Vincent Sonson (1927-2017), and loving mother to Chuck and Julie Sonson, Cathy and Bob Sawchuck, Regina and Bud Kelly, Mary and Rob Williams, Karen Sonson and David and Jessi Sonson. Her legacy will live on through her six children and their spouses; her beloved grandchildren, Ashley Sonson, Charles Sonson, Tim Sawchuck, Sean (Danielle) Sawchuck, Dr Ian (Katherine) Kelly, Deanna (William) Kelly Martin, Maura Kelly, Lauren (Chuck) Williams Renwick, Morgan (Brian) Holler, Rachel Osheka and Dylan Osheka; and great grandchildren Lorilie and Landon Sawchuck and Hudson and Hunter Renwick. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made in Mrs. Sonson’s name to Immaculate Conception Church 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington, PA 15301. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 119 W. Chestnut St., Washington. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church.
