Garnet E. Reese Withrow, 96, of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania died Easter Sunday Morning, April 20, 2025.
Born November 12, 1928, in Lone Pine, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late R.E. “Mike” Reese and Zelma Locy Reese. Garnet was a resident of Washington, Pennsylvania for ninety-five years before moving to Gettysburg to live with family.
Mrs. Withrow was employed as a secretary by the Trinity Area School District for 35 years, having graduated from Trinity High School, Class of 1946. She began working at Trinity High School three weeks before graduation.
Garnet was a member of First Christian Church and Fairhill Manor Christian Church while living in Washington. In Gettysburg, St. James Lutheran Church was her source of pastoral love and care.
On April 5, 1950, she married the love of her life, Robert “Whitey” Withrow, who God called home, September 12, 2019.
Surviving are two sons, Robert (Donna) Withrow of Austin, Texas and Mark (Sonja) Withrow of Gettysburg; three grandchildren, Lindsey (Bill Goodwin) Oskoui of Austin, Texas, Zachary (Gabriella) Withrow of Leyard, Connecticut, and Alex (Allie) Withrow of Sterling, Virginia; four great-grandchildren, Pippa, Theo, Zoe, and Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a grandson, Jason Withrow; sister, Helen Reese Frazee; and three brothers, Samuel E. Reese, Harry “Hezzy” Reese, and Raymond E. Reese, Jr.
At the request of the deceased, all services are private.
